Medara Earth Technologies specializes in digital cartography and Geographic Information Systems. David Medara’s freelance GIS work supports clients with scientific study, land management and construction compliance needs.

Digital Cartography

Digital cartography presents geographic information through map layouts, labels and visual context suited to the needs of each project.

Botanical Study Mapping

Many of David’s freelance GIS clients need mapping for rare plant and botanical studies, a primary focus of his work.

Wetland Restoration Mapping

Wetland restoration mapping is part of David’s GIS skill set. Discuss the study area, available information, additional information needed and required map details.

Possible GIS Deliverables

  • Study-area overview maps
  • Rare plant study maps
  • Botanical study maps
  • Wetland development and restoration suitability analysis
  • Vegetation or wildlife survey design and analysis

Designed for the People Who Will Use It

The same data may need to communicate differently to a project manager, landowner, field crew or public audience. Map scale, labels, colors and supporting information are chosen with the end user in mind.

Planning

Discuss the study area, how the data will be collected and what information needs to be presented in your maps.

Operations

From data collection to final presentation, we can assist your team in creating actionable information.

Communication

Once your data has been collected and analyzed, we can format and present key information to your clients or the agency you are working with to help you get the job done right.

GIS Project Questions

Do you need to collect data from the field, or does the data for your mapping needs already exist within your agency?

Existing spreadsheets, coordinates, maps, drawings and geographic files may all be useful. The first step is reviewing what is available and whether it supports the intended result. If data needs to be collected, we can design a system to do so and discuss who will carry out the collection.

What form will the maps and data I receive be in?

Most clients prefer their maps in a digital format. Printing services are also available. All data used to create maps and other related outputs will be made available as file geodatabases, shapefiles and spreadsheets, as required.

A CLOSER LOOK

Layered Data. One Clear View.

GIS brings property information, imagery, contours and project data together so relationships become easier to see, explain and act on.
